I missed the good old days of institutionalized racism, lower levels of education, segregated education, less women attending college. Go a little farther back and you get slavery, women disenfranchised, much lower life expectancy, infants dying at a much higher rates. Yes I can see how much worse we got it today: equality for homosexuals and women, better child protection, higher standards of living, higher literacy rates, even animal rights, etcetera. I missed the good old days of "leave it to Beaver" ideal life in the white middle class suburbs. I missed those days when sexual child abuse would go undetected and unreported, black people were segregated and even lynched just for being black. Today things are horrible. How dare young people question the repressive and oppressive values of older generations.

Oh come on!!! seriously?? This weeks wt study!
by stuckinarut2 ini'm sitting here at the mtg, and i can't believe the mind numbing stupidity of this weeks wt "study"...( i use the word study loosely too by the way...).
how many dumb repeated questions can be posed to try and make a point?.

Anyone been watchtower conductor
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini think there is a good chance i'm going to be asked to be the watchtower conductor.
on the one hand, i'll find it quite difficult some weeks having to go along with what is written.
on the other hand, there'll be opportunities to ask controversial questions (within limits).

Am I missing something? Time and time again I read that the JW's will not wake up, but time and time again a new person reveals that he learned TTATT. Which is it? Evidently the latter is very likely factual, while the former is a supposition of the state of mind of other people. I rather interpret the actions of people than rely in my ability to read minds. I believe people are waking up at greater rates than ever before.
Be a stealth apostate if you can handle it. Doing nothing willl not wake up anyone, while your efforts inside will give a chance to someone.

Jesus had to die? Really?
by punkofnice ini admit i no longer believe in god and holy books.. thinking of the made up 'universal sovereignty' thing, surely if god existed in the way the holy books describe him then he could have thought of something better than humankind suffering thousands of years and the slaughter of jesus?.
couldn't god have said: 'well, satan is a very naughty boy but you all know how great i am so we can end it now.
i will lovingly kill satan and his mates and that's that.

Jesus was not supossed to die, but since he did, Paul needed to re-write the story, even if it made no sense. 2 billion people today buy Paul's version of christianity.
It reminds me of 1914 being the end of the world, but since it didn't happen Rutherford re-wrote the story, which became Jesus parousia. Today 7 million people buy that story. In theological terms, not much difference between JW's and other christians. They both go for non-sense as long as you can insert the word LOVE somewhere.

Never made it to any year book-- not that the year book has high standards---, but at least it confirms that it is fiction. As someone else said, even if it true, it only proves how mentally messed up some converts are.

Are you a good person?
by Xanthippe insomething happened this week to make me think about this again.. it feels like all bets are off and i really don't know what a good person is anymore.. when i left the jws i was so sure i knew what it meant to be a good person.. this has been revised many times since.. i tend to favour the utilitarian approach, the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people.. sometimes you have to stick your neck out and say this is not good for me no matter what others may feel they need from me.. no idea where i'm going with this maybe this is a breakthrough in my life or maybe that glass of wine was stronger than i thought!.
any thoughts?.

Hell no, I am not innately good. I am only human. I am selfish, egocentric and proud. But I have been trained to be good, or rather act good since birth by society's dogmas and rules. There's few out there, however, who are born good. They are our leaders who keep us from self destruction. I believe my 14 year old son belongs to this category.

Splash, Wasblind
Read my post again. Focus on my first sentence.
ATJ is preaching to the choir. I have read Carl Olof Jonsson's two books and half of his website, James Penton's Apocalypse Delayed, Raymond Franz' two books, Doug Mason website, JW Facts website. I have also attended JW's meetings and conventions for many years. I have read their books of Revelation (the red book), The Finished Mystery, and many other wacky books and publications. I don't disagree with ATJ, the problem is that his piece lacks supporting evidence.
The opening piece is missing exactly what you are providing, evidence, evidence, evidence. Thank you

I am sure I can agree with most, maybe all of what ATJ said. The problem is that it all sounds like opinion without supporting evidence. What makes Carl Olof Jonsson and Raymonfd Franz so reliable is that they offer supporting evidence for their claims. I know this is a brief discourse in an internet forum, and therefore I don't expect a book to be presented, but the specifics are missing.

Great idea. Problem is that the audience is too small to recover cost, let alone make a profit.

You are young. Don't commit to this relationship unless she is out too. It won't work. Your learning the TTATT reduces your chances of being in a happy relationship with a commited JW.
